All drivers need educating but if worse comes to worse then driverless cars will be suitable for them!

Kids and their parents are to blame. Not the drivers.

Kids are a pain these days. Seem to purposely antagonise drivers. They think there indestructible.

People drive so fast here. Because they get away with it.

Or kids not knowing how to use a crossing or just running to try to beat cars

Those ‘Full Time Mummy’s’ are putting their children at danger from a very early age. I see them pushing their pram out first into a busy road so that the babies are the ones that test how dangerous the cars and traffic can be. Or like someone has said, they use mobiles while pushing prams!

Hide Ad‘Stop Look Listen’ is what I was taught at school and by my parents.
Nowadays it’s just just chavy parents with no brains.

School teaches road safety already but some parents do not set good examples and young children believe they’re immortal (or made of rubber!)
Melanie Hayes
Drivers do get educated when they take their test. People who don’t drive make the worst pedestrians. Kids near me literally run out from behind cars on purpose parents obviously nowhere to be seen.

Name and shame. If parents let their kids run wild they should be prosecuted

I think everyone should refresh themselves on the green cross code. Look listen and look again and cross in a safe place, get off your phones, stop listening to music and concentrate. I found a great book for my seven-year-old from the libary on the green cross code. He knows how to cross safely and knows the dangers. Educate your children and lead by example.

I can’t get over how many people just walk into the road and expect vehicles to instantly stop

Hide AdThe time has come for the Green Cross Code to be re-introduced, I have seen all too often children and adults just wombling in to the road, so don’t blame in all cases the car driver because it not always the case.

Wake up will you, it’s not as safe as it was when we were younger!

When I was a kid in the 1970s, if a car beeped its horn at you it was a shock but more importantly a genuine shame. I’d feel guilty for having been in the wrong and hope that my mum and dad didn’t find out.
These days kids wander out without care and even slow down to make car drivers brake or swerve. If you sound your horn you get abuse in return

People just step out into the road especially on zebra crossings

What we need is for people to walk in front of cars carrying a red flag to warn the unsuspecting kids of the imminent arrival of a car so they can run in front of it, because after all it is the driver’s fault the kids don’t see the need to stay on the pavement...
Frank Simpson
I think children should be educated on the dangers of the road, but also a lot of adults have no awareness either, improper use of crossings or just wandering in front of cars and then sticking two fingers up at the driver. Most accidents happen on the road where vehicles are supposed to be, not on pavements where pedestrians are supposed to be..

Hide AdIt’s certainly not a surprise when I drive along the Prom and to my horror see families dodging traffic because there’s not enough crossings. Even with the very few crossings we have drivers appear to not know the rules and keep driving when pedestrians are trying to cross or are crossing.

Does amaze me seeing people trying to cross a few metres from a crossing or the parents who shove their prams out onto the road to see if it’s safe to cross - why take a chance on the special little people in your life?
