Police in Mereside were bemused this morning when a driver performed a less than legal move in front of a marked police car.

A police patrol was making its way along Clifton Road near to the new West Division Police Headquarters just before 5am this morning when it came to a pedestrian crossing.

And while the police car, which was marked with full Lancashire Police livery, patiently waited for the lights to turn green, a car travelling in the opposite direction appeared to jump the lights.

Police seemed less than amused with the driver.

A spokesman said in a post to social media: "Probably not the best move in front of a marked police vehicle.

"Something in the air in Blackpool this morning."
