A man was left with injuries to his face after being smashed in the face with a vodka bottle by a gang of yobs.

The victim, who did not wish to be named, was attacked as he went to check up on a rented property in Dickson Road on New Year’s Day.

He found a group of up to 10 people inside the flat and was attacked as the group left the property.

The man was hit in the face with a full bottle of vodka.

He also believes one or more members of the gang may have hit him with a brick before trampling him as they forced their way out of the property.

The victim said: “I don’t remember much about it.

“I remember opening the door and seeing a lot of people inside.

“Then I was hit with the bottle. I don’t remember much after that.

“They’ve run away and as they’ve done so I’ve been trampled.

“When I got up there was blood everywhere.

“I tried to get back to my car but I was spotted by a hotelier who helped me and called the police.”

Lancashire Police confirmed officers had attended the property at the rear of Dickson Road following reports of an assault.

“The victim suffered facial injuries having been hit with a spirits bottle.

“We believe the assault was carried out by one man.
