A man chased his wife around their home physically abusing her after they argued about money.

Trevor Wallace punched his wife on the arm, put her in a headlock until she could not breathe and felt dizzy, then caused her to hit a door handle when he grabbed her again.

Wallace, 35, of Spencer Court, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to an offence of assault.

He was sentenced to a six months community order with up to 10 days supervised by the probation service and ordered to pay £85 costs plus £85 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Brett Chappell, defending, told magistrates: “He admitted matters straightaway in police interview. He is absolutely devastated by what he has done. He suffers from depression and anxiety.”
