'Discarded cigarette' started fire on North Pier

One fire crew from Blackpool was called to the pier at 9pm yesterday. It is believed a discarded cigarette had caused a bench to set alight.Firefighters remained at the scene for around 30 minutes while the fire was extinguished and the area checked for safety. Approximately one metre of wooden boards were charred in the fire.
