Soldier denies knife assault on girlfriend
A soldier accused of knifing his girlfriend in the stomach and cutting her finger has appeared in court.
Deron Stapleton is also alleged to have attempted to strangle his partner at the home they shared in Wesham.
Stapleton, 33, of Sycamore Drive, Wesham, pleaded not guilty to assault and causing actual bodily harm on October 1.

Hide AdPam Smith, prosecuting, asked for the case to go to crown court, and opposed an application for bail for Stapleton by defence lawyer David Charnley.
Stapleton was remanded in custody to appear at Preston Crown Court on October 15 by Blackpool magistrates.
