Town council will continue to oppose pier flats development
Simmo Developments, the consortium headed by businessman Mike Simmons, lodged a new outline planning application for 15 apartments for over-55s, after similar plans were rejected by Wyre planners in January .
There are revisions to the previous applications which show the proposed, ultra-modern building would be around a foot lower in some areas and there are reductions in the size of retail units.

“Simmo Developments probably think that we will get fed up and just let the flats be built.
“I would say that if there are people who object to these plans, put your own objections in and encourage as many people as possible with an FY7 postcode to do the same.”
Simmo’s earlier version of the apartment scheme, lodged last year, was rejected by planners because of its height, scale, mass, design and appearance. There are already more than 170 objections to the current proposals lodged by Simmo.
