Tributes paid to Blackpool pensioner killed in road accident
Police say Derek Johnstone, 81, suffered serious injuries after he was hit by a blue Ford Focus on Highfield Road close to the junction with Common Edge Road.

Hide AdAmbulance services were called to the scene at around 6.35pm on December 13 and the pensioner was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital for treatment.
Sadly he died at hospital on January 22.
The driver of the Ford, a 66-year-old man from Blackpool, was not injured.
Police are now appealing for information following the collision.
Sgt Adam Dawson, of Lancashire Police’s Roads Policing Unit, said: “These are tragic circumstances and my thoughts are with Mr Johnstone’s family at this time. They are currently being supported by specially trained officers.

Hide Ad“The driver of the Ford Focus is assisting with our enquiries but anyone with any information regarding the collision is urged to contact police on 101 quoting log reference 1254 of December 13.”
In a statement, Mr Johnstone’s family added: “Derek was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be in our hearts forever.”
