We do like to be beard-side the seaside
Contestants and visitors alike were bristling with excitement at a charity fund raising event on Saturday.
The fourth British Beard and Moustache Championships were held in the Empress Ballroom at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool town centre, hosted by the Sandgrown Beardsmen in association with Woody’s Grooming.

Hide AdBrian Eva, founder of the Beardsmen, said: “It was an amazing success, loved by all. Everybody seems to have spoken positively about everything.”
The family-friendly championships – featuring 21 different categories – is an open contest with competitors from the UK and throughout the world. Large contingents came from the USA and Germany, plus there were entrants from countries such as Italy, Spain, Norway and
Holland.
The overall winner was Mark East, from the handlebar moustache category.
The biennial event was previously held in Brighton in 2012, Bristol in 2014 and
Liverpool in 2016.
