The club moved fast on Monday night to insist there was no truth in an online story published by the Daily Mail claiming an offer to buy the club had been submitted to the Oyston family. With the Mail yet to add detail to its story and the club having no further comment to make, supporters have been left in confusion and BST spokeswoman Christine Seddon admitted: “It is difficult to know what to think.” She told The Gazette: “We have got a respected journalist from the Daily Mail standing by his information, and we have got the official comment from the club saying the exact opposite, so we need some evidence to see who is telling the truth.” Addressing a BST meeting earlier this month, owner Owen Oyston had questioned whether there were any potential investors willing to take control of the club, though the biggest Pool fans’ organisation remains convinced there are. BST’s Seddon continued: “We have said all along that BST is actively seeking potential investors. “We know that they are out there but you do not know who wants to buy your house until you put it up for sale. “We know there are people out there. There is just an obstacle in the way.” New Blackpool keeper Sam Slocombe is targeting promotion and believes his experience of climbing out of the fourth tier can help. The 28-year-old, who signed for Pool within hours of leaving Oxford on Tuesday, was an ever-present in the Scunthorpe team which finished runners-up in League Two three years ago. He told the club website: “The league is difficult. There are a lot of physical games but as long as we learn how to dig in at the right times I think we can give it a good go. “I’m not the only player in this squad with experience. There are players who have been brought in who have experience at a higher level that will be just as valuable, if not more. Hopefully that experience and the younger lads will give us a good opportunity of going up.”
