BST's big boost for AFC Blackpool
However, the team in question was AFC Blackpool, who faced Ashton Athletic in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup.
Blackpool Supporters’ Trust sponsored the tie and Pool supporters swelled the crowd at the Mechanics Ground to over 300, though the added support couldn’t inspire AFC to a victory as the visitors won through courtesy of the only goal on the hour.

Hide AdBST spokeswoman Christine Seddon said: “We sponsored AFC Blackpool as part of our ethical boycott of Bloomfield Road.
“The idea was to give Blackpool fans who have decided not to go into Bloomfield Rd until the Oystons have gone somewhere else to watch some football, meet friends and help a local, grass roots club at the same time.”
The ongoing dispute between Blackpool and its supporters shows no sign of abating as the club announced an official attendance of 3,754 for the opening-day home win over Exeter. Six seasons ago Bloomfield Road was attracting over 16,000 for Premier League fixtures.
It’s back to the bread and butter for relegated AFC Blackpool tonight, when they begin their campaign in the first division of the revamped Hallmark Security League with a game at home to Daisy Hill (7.45pm).
