Danny Andrew: Fleetwood have addressed problems at one end of pitch, now let's get some goals

Since conceding three in the first half-hour at MK Dons just over a week ago, the Town defence has been unbreached in over 225 minutes of football.
The problem is that Fleetwood have only scored once in four games, though full-back Andrew says the defenders are playing their part in making the attackers’ job less difficult.

“I thought we controlled the game well until the last 20-25 minutes, when they gave us a bit of an onslaught really, but we defended well to keep the clean sheet we needed.
“Off the back of MK Dons game, the message among the lads was that we need to start keeping clean sheets before we even start to think about getting three points.
“We’ve looked at that and addressed it in the last two games. Now we have to look at the top end of the pitch and try to get some goals.

“We have quality up top as we have all over the pitch. As soon as we get that goal, it will just give us the confidence we need.”
And Andrew, now in the second season of his second spell at Highbury, believes that next win could transform the team.
“We probably do feel there’s lot of improvement to come because if we’re on it we can beat any team in this league, we think.

Andrew acknowledges that interim boss Simon Wiles’ style is very different to that of Joey Barton, but he says that’s something professional players become accustomed to.
“Every manager is different,” he added. “You get some who scream and shout, some who are more mellow; some who who like to kick it long and teams who pass it short. Every one is different and you have to buy into the philosophy that each manager comes with.”
