Former Seasider Gorkšs elected president of Latvian FA
The former Latvian international, who made 50 appearances for the Seasiders between 2006 and 2008, will serve a two-year term.
Gorkšs was elected to the position at the Latvian Football Federation's general assembly in Riga.

Hide AdHe succeeds Guntis Indriksons, who has stepped down after being at the helm of Latvian football since 1996 – a period during which Latvia qualified for Euro 2004 finals in Portugal.
Gorkšs, who won 89 caps for Latvia, retired from professional football last winter.
"This is an immense honour and responsibility for me," the 36-year-old said.
"You have voiced your support not only for me, but also for the whole of Latvian football."

Hide AdGorkšs pledged to further develop the country’s football infrastructures, adding: “I am committed to starting the process and fulfilling my programme.
“I used to fight until the very end on the football pitch, and I will have the same attitude towards my new role and all of the federation’s demanding tasks."
