Fleetwood bike racer Ryan Garside still in title contention after Oulton Park drama
Despite mechanical issues in the third round of the series at Oulton Park, Cheshire, the Myerscough College motorsport lecturer recorded some excellent lap times, and his results keep him in contention ahead of the decider at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire.
Ryan had to settle for sixth place in race one, having recovered from a contact on the opening lap with a best lap time below 1min, 47secs – this broke the circuit record until race winner Ash Thompson smashed it with a 1.45.4.

Hide AdRyan got a much better start in race two, leaving his fastest lap of the weekend until last.
That lap of 1.45.7 saw Ryan finish third in class and fourth overall.
He said: “I struggled with the bike on the standard engine as it was just horrible to ride and felt so slow. I wondered if it was breaking down a couple of times.
“I struggled in testing on Friday and just decided to push my luck all day Saturday, and hope for sub-1.50 laps and as many points as I could salvage.

“I’m just disappointed with the points haul but it’s definitely the best of a bad situation. If anybody has any extra horsepower I could have for the next round at Cadwell Park, that would be great!
“Roll on the final round at the end of the month, when it’s double points again and four races. It’s not over yet!”
The deciding weekend at Cadwell Park is on October 24-25.
