I know time goes fast but realising 1975 is practially 50 years ago is mind-blowing. From fighter jets landing on the M55 and busy shops at Christmas, to scaling Blackpool Tower and the newly crowned Miss Blackpool, it was all happening!
Hours after being called out to the aid of a broken down hovercraft, men from Lytham lifeboat were in action again - demonstrating their equipment to the public. The demonstration by lifeboatmen from Lytham, Blackpool and Fleetwood at Fairhaven Lake was to raise money for the RNLI. 12. A man who dived fully clothed into the Preston-Lancaster canal at Garstang to rescue a small child has been presented with a framed certificate in recognition of his bravery. The rescue occured at Kepple Lane bridge in June last year when Mr Graham Watkins, who lives in Belvedere Road, Thornton Cleveleys, brought the boy to safety after he had fallen in the water.
