How much Premier League giants Man City could owe Blackpool FC after guilty verdict
Here’s how much Manchester City could owe Blackpool FC after being found guilty on 114 charges of financial fair play.
Imagine Manchester City had not broken the rules and used ‘sham contracts’ in recent years. It would be entirely fair to suggest that City might not have won three Premier League titles, one FA Cup and three EFL Cups.
Manchester City’s alleged financial breaches date back to the 2009–10 season, with the main period running through to 2017–18. This means that there was a one season overlap where Blackpool were competing against a City side that may have been cheating the rules.
As it stands, City are guilty of inflating their sponsorship income by £830m, plus another £90m in expenses. The club denies any wrongdoing and has appealed.

If the charges are sustained, Blackpool may have a financial claim against City. According to research by BBC Sport, the Tangerines could be owed £756,756 for their infamous one-season stint in the Premier League.
A timescale for Man City paying out that sum depends on a number of factors, not least the ongoing appeal process. There are 34 other teams who could be owed compensation, meaning legal battles could last years.
